CV for Jobs in the UAE 2026: Dubai and Abu Dhabi Hiring, Explained
Updated 2026-09-05 · 9 min read
What UAE recruiters look for first
The UAE market is the fastest-moving in the Gulf and the most crowded. A Dubai recruiter often receives 300+ applications per ad. Your CV is scanned for four data points before anything else: current location, visa status, notice period, and expected salary in AED.
Put them in a single line under your header:
Dubai, UAE | Employment visa (transferable) | 30 days notice | Expected: AED 18,000/month
If you are outside the country, write "Available to relocate within 30 days — visit visa possible". Do not hide it; hidden facts get discovered at the offer stage and waste everyone's time.
Format rules
- Two pages maximum. One page for under five years of experience.
- Photo is common in the UAE but never mandatory; a clean, professional headshot is acceptable.
- Reverse chronological, no tables or text boxes (they break ATS parsing).
- Achievements in numbers with AED values, percentages and volumes.
- Include nationality — many ads still filter by market experience and visa quota.
Mainland vs free zone
A free-zone company (DMCC, DIFC, Dubai Internet City, ADGM, Masdar) sponsors a visa valid for that zone; mainland companies sponsor a standard MOHRE contract. It affects your contract type, not your CV — but knowing the difference makes you sound informed in an interview. If you already hold a residence visa sponsored by a family member, say so: employers can hire you on a work permit without full sponsorship costs, which is a real advantage.
Sectors hiring hardest in 2026
Logistics and supply chain, fintech and payments, real estate and property management, hospitality and events, healthcare, cybersecurity and cloud, AI and data, construction linked to infrastructure programmes, and e-commerce operations.

Salary and offer checklist
Offers are quoted as a monthly total package: basic + housing + transport. Gratuity (end-of-service) is calculated on basic salary only, so a low basic with a high allowance reduces your final payout. Confirm: medical insurance tier, annual flight allowance, visa costs covered, probation length and whether the contract is limited or unlimited term.
Cost-of-living sanity check
Before accepting, compare the offer to rent in the area you plan to live, school fees if you have children, and transport. A number that looks large in AED can be tight in Dubai Marina and comfortable in Sharjah or Al Reem.
