CV for Jobs in Saudi Arabia 2026: Format, Saudization and Where to Apply

What is different about a Saudi CV
Saudi employers — from Aramco and SABIC to fast-growing NEOM and Riyadh-based startups — screen a very high volume of applications, most of them through an ATS. Three things matter more than in Egypt or North Africa:
- Iqama / visa status. State clearly whether you are inside the Kingdom with a transferable Iqama, or applying from abroad and require sponsorship. Recruiters filter on this first.
- Certificate attestation. Degrees usually need attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi embassy. Mention "degree attested" if it is done — it removes weeks from the hiring timeline.
- Job-title matching. Saudi job ads use very literal titles ("Site Civil Engineer", "Senior Accountant — Receivables"). Mirror the exact wording in your headline.
The format that works
- One or two pages, reverse chronological, no photo unless requested.
- Header: name, target title, mobile with country code, email, city, LinkedIn.
- A line under the header: nationality, current location, Iqama status, notice period.
- Summary of 3 lines written for the specific ad.
- Experience with numbers: SAR values, project sizes, team headcount, delivery dates.
- Skills section with the exact keywords from the ad, including software (SAP, Primavera, AutoCAD, Oracle, Power BI).
- Certifications: SCE membership for engineers, SOCPA for accountants, PMP, Saudi Council of Health Specialties for medical roles. These are often mandatory filters.
Saudization (Nitaqat) in plain terms
Companies must hire a percentage of Saudi nationals to stay in a favourable Nitaqat band. This does not close the door on expats — it changes which roles open. Demand is strongest where local supply is thin: specialised engineering, construction management, healthcare, hospitality, industrial maintenance, IT infrastructure and data. For roles that are fully nationalised (many HR, reception, customer-service and retail roles), applying from abroad is usually wasted effort. Read the ad: if it says "Saudi nationals only", believe it.
Where to apply
- Company career portals — Aramco, SABIC, Ma'aden, stc, Almarai, NEOM, Red Sea Global, Alfanar. These convert better than aggregators.
- LinkedIn with your location set to the target city.
- Bayt, Naukrigulf, GulfTalent, Indeed Saudi Arabia.
- Licensed recruitment agencies in your home country for construction, healthcare and industrial hiring. Never pay a fee to a "job offer" that arrives by WhatsApp.
Salary and offer basics
Offers are quoted monthly in SAR and usually split into basic salary plus housing (often 25% of basic) and transport allowance. Ask which components count towards the end-of-service benefit. Confirm in writing: annual flight ticket, medical insurance grade, family status of the visa, and annual leave days.
Language
Most multinational and technical roles run in English. Government-linked and customer-facing roles increasingly require Arabic. If you are bilingual, say so precisely: "Arabic (native), English (professional working proficiency, IELTS 7.0)".
